Hello everyone…and a very happy and blessed Monday to you all! I sure hope that your week is off to a good start…and I pray that you will ALWAYS remember that God is a God of power…and that He is there for you…no matter what…Amen!!
Last night, I decided to spend some extra moments alone with God. It seems like everywhere I turn, there are people who are going through one thing or another, including myself. Anyways, as I struggled to take hold of what God would have me share with you today, a question came to my thoughts, which is this… "Are we holding to a form of godliness…something that ties us into our own powerless selves…or even a powerless religion, while denying the true power of a great and mighty God?" In other words…are we lacking the main ingredient (God's power) that's needed to help us survive these trying times?
As I continued my time alone with God; He kept leading me back to a Bible verse that's found in 2 Timothy 3:5a…so let's read this small but powerful verse, which says… "Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof:" These words take me back to my younger days, when I was caught up in religion, rather than Christianity. It seemed that I was so busy following the rules that this religion had set out for me to follow; that I was lacking one of the most important things…"God's power." Through time, I came to see that being godly never brought me close to God, during the hard times…and even more, I came to see that there was no peace in what I was attempting to live up to, as a godly person. Let's stop for a moment and think on this; when we are only godly people…and we push God's power to the side and try to remain strong on our own; then what is going to sustain us and help us during times such as these.
While thinking on this even more, I began to see that when we become godly people who follow after our own thoughts, ideas and ways; then the strength that is seen on the outside is only of ourselves, as we try to keep everything intact…which only becomes very draining with time…believe me, I know. What we need to do today; is to untie the hands of a powerful God and let His power go to work for us.
As Christians…we must remember that our devotion to God should change the way we think and react to times such as these…knowing that there is a power that is much greater than what we are facing…a power that can become the true remedy for what may be ailing us. Maybe we can't fix what's wrong; but I have come to see that there is a power that far surpasses the power of weakness…and the evil that is behind it all; but if we don't acknowledge that power and see it for what it truly is; then how do we expect it to free us from these difficult times we're facing right now?
Today, maybe you are in over your head with heartache or some other problem…and you are feeling as if you might drown beneath it all. May I suggest one thing? Turn away from yourself, religion…or whatever else may be keeping you away from the true hope and help you need; and from there…turn to a God who is greater in power, than the so-called power that is coming out of these moments of weakness. One thing I know…when we let go of a form of godliness and allow God to be everything…for everything we need; that is when His power will truly come alive within us…a power that can be the cure, to whatever may be wrong.
Have a very blessed day…and ALWAYS know that God's power is available to you, during times of great need!
God bless…see ya tomorrow!
It's Always & Only Because of Him…
