Hello everyone…and a very happy and blessed Friday to you all! I truly hope and pray that your weekend is off to a great start…and even more, I pray that we all will be more in tune to the Spirit of God, rather than ourselves, as we live from one day into another…Amen!!
Lately, I have been wondering one thing…and that is how we seem to find it easier to listen to ourselves, rather than the Spirit that lives within us, as Christians. Don't we realize that when we let go of the One that lives within our hearts…to follow after our own ways; that this is only the beginning of what Satan longs to do, as a means of controlling our lives?
This morning, as I've been spending some quiet moments with God…looking through His word; He led me directly to a few Bible verses in Galatians 5:16-18, and we read… "So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17) For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18) But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law." As I was studying these Bible verses this morning, I came to see that when we aren't letting God have complete control over our lives; then you know who will. We might as well face it…there is no in between. Either we have devoted our lives to God completely or we haven't.
I have come to see within my own life; that the moments when we let go of God's hand…only becomes a time, when we find ourselves walking down some detour road…a road that only leads to Satan's control over our lives…and the more that we allow him to control one thing…other things do follow, until we have found ourselves lured to a place where Satan has full control, rather than God. We must remember that the forces of good and evil are constantly raging war over our lives…and the decisions we choose to make, will either allow God to have control or Satan.
The thing that I believe God is wanting us to know today; is that when we are motivated by His Spirit…above all else in our lives; then this will keep us from the compulsions of selfishness. In other words…our lives won't ever be centered around ourselves and what we feel our lives should be; but rather, they will be centered around what God longs for our lives to be. Just think of it this way…there is a part of us as Christians that longs to be free and completely directed by God; but on the other hand…the war begins, when Satan sees that we are becoming more in tune with that free spirit…and from there…Satan works to override that free spirit, with a controlling one…and guess who he chooses to begin this process…yes, us. In fact…when we allow Satan to work in this way; we only become a puppet on a string; that's completely controlled by the hands of evil.
We must remember that the free spirit, which is represented through Christ is not compatible with selfishness…for they are completely contrary to each other…and once we choose ourselves above Christ; that is when we lose that free spirit, as Satan uses this act of selfishness to place us in a prison cell of despair and control us even more, while taking us away from the presence of God.
I remember a time in my life, when it was all about me. It was my decisions that were going to make it all work…that is, until I came to see how living a life like this kept me controlled by evil and turmoil. Once I let go of myself and let Christ have my life completely…a freedom came into my life, as I had never experienced before…a freedom that allowed my spirit to breathe and be at peace.
How is it that we choose to allow ourselves…and even other things in this life to control us and place us in deep bondage, when we could truly live in the freedom for which Christ died for? I have come to see that when I lay myself to the side and let God work freely…having full control, of each day of my life; that this is when I am able to escape the erratic compulsions that try to lure me back to a life of self-control. What are you choosing to allow within your own life? Can you say today; that you or other things are running the show…or does God have the stage? Remember…whatever you choose will either keep you controlled by evil…or your choice will lead you to a free spirit…one that can give you peace. The choice is up to you; but remember…Jesus didn't die to keep you in bondage…but rather, He died to give you a free spirit.
Have a very blessed day…and I will see you on Monday!
