Hello everyone…and a very happy and blessed Monday to you all! Well…here we go again…another new day…and another new week…and my prayer today is this…that as we begin each new day of this brand new week; that we will know that God's strength is there for us…despite what we may be going through at the time…Amen!!
You know…the start to a new week can sometimes be difficult, especially if what took place in the previous week is now spilling over into another week. We can experience moments when we just see a new week, as a steep step that almost seems impossible to climb; but I have come to see that no matter what we face…or how long we face it; there is a strength that can rise above these weak moments and keep us plowing through life.
As I was preparing to write this morning, I was reminded of a couple Bible verses that God has used many times in my life, which are found in Psalm 18:28-29, and we read… "For thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness. 29) For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall."
There have been many characters in the Bible that have truly inspired me; but there is something even more special about King David. First…he didn't size up the circumstances that stood before him; but instead, he leaned on the strength of almighty God…and because of this, he was able to bring a giant down to the ground, while winning many battles…for it says in Psalm 44:6…"For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me."
I just wonder how many of us lean on God's strength? Yes…it's easy to say; but not always easy to follow through with. I have come to see that leaning on God's strength can make the way easier; but at the same time, we must continually pursue that strength, for each difficult step we take.
As I look back on my life, I see how pursuing God's strength actually became my means of survival; because if I would have sat in the middle of the path many years back and hadn't pursued God…one thing I know for sure; is that those moments would have consumed me and I wouldn't be serving God right now.
I think the thing that can help us all to continually press on and pursue God and the strength He so longs to give us; is to allow our thoughts to become caught up in fighting these battles, rather than succumbing to them…just like David did. When we read these verses above, we don't see someone who sized up the giant and the battles that raged before him…but we see a person who knew in his heart that God's strength and power was more than enough to defeat the enemy. Yes…David also used his sword and shield…just as we use whatever means we have to help the situations we face; but in the end…David knew that it was God who had entered the stones that brought Goliath down, along with the sword that allowed him and his army to prevail.
Today, can we say that we are sizing up our circumstances…to the place where we are already counting ourselves as defeated…or are we doing what we can, while allow God to crown every effort with success. Yes…times are hard and sometimes those hard times can seem endless and difficult to get through…believe me I know; but I can truly say that I wouldn't be where I am today, if it wasn't for the strength and power of this almighty God that lives within me.
As we close our time together, may I encourage you to look at this new day…and this new week, in a different way…one that can bring hope into your life rather than despair…one that can lift your spirit and truly say that with God in your life; that everything is going to be alright.
I pray that you will have a very blessed Monday…and I will see you soon!
It's Always & Only Because of Him…
