Hello everyone and welcome back to Moments Spent with God! I pray that your week is off to a great start and that you will truly experience the powerful presence of God, as you walk through each moment of each day!

Can you imagine what it would be like, if we had to live the past over and over again? Thank God that He has given us a new day…everyday! Today, I was thinking on how Satan has a way of creeping in and reminding us of our mistakes and the awful things of the past. When we think about it…he is only using the past to stop us in our tracks, so we can’t keep pressing on with God. Satan knows that if he can get us caught up in moments of the past; then just maybe he can break the connection that we have with God, which will only give him the foothold, to create more havoc in our lives and once we have fallen into his trap; he then begins to torment us with these moments, until we grow discouraged and are on the edge of giving up.

I remember a time in my life when Satan tormented me, due the past moments of sexual abuse. It seems like he was coming at me full force and working in every way that he could, to keep me down and out of commission with God. I truly believe that he had an idea of God’s plan for my life and he was going to do everything he could to stop it. In fact, as I look back on my life…I see several moments, when he was attempting to do this.

We must remember today that the past can be a very dangerous place to be, unless we have God with us. To me, the awful moments of the past becomes a desolate place, where we walk into moments that were first created by evil; so when we choose to go back to those moments and walk through these times; then we are only entering a place, where Satan can once more reopen the past and finish what he first started.

We all experience moments, when our thoughts are bombarded by the awful moments of the past, but we must get our focus back on God, so we don’t find ourselves being led into moments that could create more problems within our lives.

You know…I have noticed that when I’m tired…in pain or have had a difficult day; that this is when Satan attempts to enter my weakness and remind me of moments of the past. I have found that especially during the quiet hours of the night; that this is when he brings these thoughts into my mind, as a means of keeping me from the rest I need.

How do we stay away from the past and how do we get off these detour roads of the past that Satan has led us down? There is one thing that I have learned over time and that is to remind Satan of God’s forgiveness and grace. We must remember that there is power in these words and that these words become fiery darts that can stop Satan in his tracks.

Today, I pray that we will keep walking straight ahead with God, while leaving the detour roads of the past behind!
Blessings on your day…
It’s Always & Only Because of Him…
Diane
