As I write to you today, the sound of a gentle rain is filling my ears. It's amazing, as to how time can take us from a hot dry summer to a wet and breezy autumn. These moments that change from time to time, become a reminder to us that nothing ever remains the same. Every minute of every day, we see how God continues to unfold His perfect plan for our lives.
Last night, as I sat in the quiet moments of my evening, I began to talk with God…and as I did, I was reminded, as to how each passing moment can take us away from the hurt and pain, we experience from time to time. At the moment, it's not always easy to see it that way; but as each day goes by…so does the hurt and pain of our yesterdays. As I thought more on this, I also came to see how time can allow us to view life in a way that we never thought would ever be. In this sense, we see how God's promises are fulfilled to us with each passing day, even though we can't see as far down the road as He can.
This morning, God was taking me back to a Bible reading in Matthew 28, which talks on the time, when Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were going to the tomb of Jesus. As I read this chapter, I began to see how both of them probably had no idea that they would find Jesus gone from the tomb. In their minds, they were grieving the loss of their Lord…and I'm sure that what took place that day was the furthest from their minds; but it does show that with time…things can turn around into moments that we never thought could ever be.
As the rain falls outside my window, I remember a time when I never thought that there would be any rain. As the summer months went by with no rain…only hot temperatures, I came to see how easy it is to believe in the moments that are taking place at the time. You know…in a similar way, we can find ourselves believing in the pain and deep heartache that we may be experiencing at the moment…thinking that this is the way life will always be but just as the rain did come; so, will better times come too.
Right now, as I'm writing you…God is reminding me of the different seasons of the year…and how each one serves its own purpose. With spring, we experience newness…a time when the rain falls and begins to bring everything alive again, after a winter of dormancy. From there, time takes us into the long hot months of summer…a time when we begin to see new growth. Then autumn comes, as a time of refreshment…a time when everything is relieved of the heat and dry months that gave little rain. Finally, winter arrives with a blanket of snow, to gently cover each living thing, as they rest and prepare for the cycle to once more begin again.
As we begin our own cycle of seasons, we can experience tears, as the process of new growth begins. These difficult moments that can make us feel as though we are walking across a desert of despair, can make it difficult to see that anything good could ever spring forth from these moments; but as time does pass us by, we do come to see the things that have sprung forth from these painful times, as God leads us to moments of refreshment and rest.
I think the thing that I want to encourage you with today; is that time does move us along…and also the seasons that can bring about difficult times. Sometimes it's not that easy to see it this way, while going through a difficult season; but it does happen. As I look back on my own life, I remember many painful seasons…seasons that I never thought would ever change; but they did…and now God continues to walk me through other seasons that can be used to encourage and help others…so don't give up, because God will walk you through this season with time.
As I close my letter to you today, I want you to know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers…and I also want to remind you that there will be a letter of encouragement waiting for you on Monday morning…so come back and see what God has in store for your day!
Please take good care…and have a great weekend!
With much love & prayers…
It's Always & Only Because of Him…
