Last night, as I sat in my office a little later than usual, I began to just let my thoughts rest from a busy day. As I looked out into the darkness, I could see the shadows of the trees laying across the lawn, due to the yard light in the backyard. As the light began to transport my eyes to each darkened shadow; these moments reminded me, as to how the bright and cheery moments of life, can quickly take us to the darkened shadows that Satan allows to cross our path…those that lay hidden with the unknown things that can attempt to bring darkness into our day.
As I'm sitting here thinking on this, I just wonder why we allow ourselves to become so caught up in these moments. I would say that we should be walking around these dark shadows that contain the unknown things that could possibly take us down. In fact, I would say that we should see a red flag go up that says… "Beware…evil lingers here!"
While sitting here in these quiet moments…God is taking my thoughts to a couple Bible verses in Proverbs 4:14-15, which says… "Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. 15) Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away."
You know…it seems that when the sun is shining it's brightest; Satan comes along with a form of darkness and strews it across our path. The thoughts and feelings that once kept us in the light of a good day, are now attempting to take us into other moments that could possibly lead us out of that light and into the darkness of despair. What are we choosing to do from there? Remember, it's our choice, as to whether we will choose to walk through those darkened moments or not…and when we find ourselves testing the waters with darkness; then that is when we may find ourselves falling head first into the troubled waters, that had been camouflaged by that darkness.
As I write you today, I want you to know that we can remain free from darkness; but let's face it…we also do experience times, when we are just too weak in spirit to refrain from these moments of darkness, which can cause us to fall prey to the darkness that Satan has strewn across our path. This is not the time to let weakness make us weaker; but now is the time to get strong and remain in the light of those good moments we're already experiencing…and walk way around the darkness that is only set out as a trap, to get us caught up in other things that only make it even more difficult to walk down the path we're on.
As I look out my window, the shadows of the trees are once more lying across the lawn…but it's different this morning; for the light of a new day is now beginning to overtake the darkened shadows, as the light of this new day begins to shine brighter and brighter. In a similar way, we may experience the darkened and unknown shadows of despair across our path; but when we refrain from these moments and remain where we are with God; then He will lead us into something even brighter and better than before.
These moments that I have spent with you today, have already brightened my path…and the darkness that was once strewn over my path for days, seems to have disappeared…and why; because I'm choosing to keep going and walk way around the moments that Satan had devised to keep me caught up into despair.
As I close my letter to you today, I want you to know that choices do make a difference in our everyday lives. We can either fall into temptation and allow those moments to take us into lonely places of darkness…or we can choose to remain where we are and shun those moments of darkness. What are you choosing to do today?
Well, I need to go for now; but I sure have enjoyed writing you today! I hope that you will have a very special weekend…and that you will come back on Monday, as I will have a letter of encouragement waiting just for you! For now, please take care…and may God truly bless your heart with His very best!
With love & prayers…
It's Always & Only Because of Him…
