Bible Verses of the Day | Psalm 23
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2) He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3) He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4) Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5) Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6) Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever."
Hello everyone…and a very happy and blessed Monday to you all! What a great day this is…a time where we can begin again and start fresh into another new week! As we visit today, I pray that God would fill our hearts with words of encouragement…words that can truly help to bring us through these uncertain days we're living in…Amen!
Over the weekend, I was watching something on YouTube, and it was in relation to all that is happening in our country right now. As I observed the people in this video, I came to see how fear has become a new friend to many, while living in these unknown times. In other words, we tend to become so caught up in where our country is headed; that we seem to leave God along the wayside and take hold of fear instead.
As I was thinking more on this the other night, a couple questions entered my thoughts, which are these…"Can fear meet our needs…and can fear help us to find peace, while living in these troublesome times?" One thing God was reminding me of, while reading the 23rd Psalm; is that when we choose to take a tight grip on His hand, rather than holding tightly to fear; then these actions alone will walk us away from anxiety…and instead, they will walk us into the sheltering presence of God, where He can provide for us and restore our souls, even in the presence of the enemy.
Do we realize that it doesn't take a perfect setting, to be blessed by God in the presence of the enemy? Last December, my husband and I were waiting to see if we would get his yearly federal raise. Due to the one who is in office right now, we just didn't know if this would happen; but to our surprise, we not only got the raise; but also a bigger one. God began to show Keith and I both that He has no problem providing for us, even in the presence of the enemy; for He is the One in charge…and His power supersedes any other so-called power of authority.
Another thing that has greatly disturbed me over time, especially within the past two years; is how people and even Christians are hoarding food. In Matthew 6:26, we read… "Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?" We must remember that actions such as hoarding and prepping only stem from fear and a lack of trust in God. In verse 1 of our reading today, it says… "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want." In other words, when our hearts and minds are drawn into the presence of God, rather than fear; then we have no reason to worry about anything; for it's God who will take care of us.
As I went through each verse in Psalm 23 this morning, I truly came to see how God does care for those who choose to follow Him and trust Him, during times of distress. He's not only the One who provides for every need; but He is also the One who can take us away from anxiety and fear and lead us to a quiet place with Him…where our thoughts and hearts can be restored and brought back into His presence, rather than the presence of all that is taking place around us. Also, when we choose to take hold of Him, rather than fear, we can live with peace, even while walking through the darkest valley, which I have truly come to see…and get this…God can even provide in the midst of the enemy. Like I said…it doesn't take a perfect setting, for God's great power to open up a way for us. Yes, we may feel as if we are at a dead end street; but I know a God who can carve a brand new road, so we can continue on and keep pressing forward.
This morning, God has brought a renewed hope within me; because He not only provides for us and restores us, during these hard and difficult times; but He also gives us the hope that when all of this comes to an end; that we as Christians, will be able to dwell in the house of the Lord (Heaven) forever…free from all that is taking place at this time.
You know…I think sometimes, we just need to slow down and reconnect ourselves with God, while walking through these darkened valleys. It can be so easy to get sidetracked…to the place where our hand slips out of the hand of God…to take hold the hand of fear; but the thing we need to remember, is that fear can't do anything for us; but bring about torment within our thoughts and our hearts.
No matter how you may be feeling, as you watch this world slowly deteriorate…there is still hope; but it can only be found through Jesus Christ. Fear and anxiety will never take you anywhere but down; for they are only the tools…used by Satan to torment our lives; and they will only walk us away from the presence of our God. As we begin another new week together, let's start out by taking hold of God; that we may not be distracted by the ways of evil…an evil that only longs to bring misery into our lives.
Thank you Lord, for these words of encouragement today…words that can dispel fear from within us and draw us closer into your powerful presence. Oh God, I pray that we will come to see how life can be much easier during these uneasy times…simply by choosing to turn away from fear…to take hold of your loving and caring spirit…Amen!!
Well…it's time for me to move on into my day; but I truly enjoyed our visit! I hope that you will return tomorrow morning, for another great God inspired visit…one that can take hold of discouragement and turn it around into words and thoughts of encouragement. May God truly bless your heart, as you walk through this brand-new day!
It's Always & Only Because of Him…
