Bible Verses for the Day | James 1:2-4
"My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into diver's temptations; 3) Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4) But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing."
Hello everyone! Well…it's another new day, which means it's another new visit together! I sure hope that your day is off to a good start…and I pray that as we begin this time together; that we will be encouraged and uplifted, for other days to come; that we may always find a reason to press on and rejoice in the goodness of a God who never fails…Amen!
Lately, the struggles of pain and chronic illness has definitely been attempting to steal my joy. Let's face it…we are all human…and there can be times, when we can only handle so much of whatever we may be facing at the time. It's not that we don't want to be joyful; but how can we truly experience joy, when illness, loss or deep heartache has brought sadness to our hearts?
Last night, as I began to search through some Bible verses; God seemed to be leading me to our Bible verses for the day, which are found in James 1:2-4. As I began to take in every word I was reading, I began to see that these verses aren't instructing us to be happy about the affliction itself; but rather, these verses are wanting us to see these difficult times, as something that can become worthy of joy…in other words, a joy that can spring forth from what the trial produces.
I don't know about you; but when pain hits my body hard, it can be very difficult to turn a frown into a smile. Times such as these can make us feel that this is what is expected of us, which can make these moments seem even more difficult to get through; but when we can see how these difficult times can produce something greater in our lives, like a greater faith in God…and a greater opportunity to grow and become stronger in Him; then this is what will help us to rejoice…knowing that something good is coming forth from something that can seem almost unbearable.
You know…I think that we find it difficult to experience joy during times of suffering; because we are viewing these moments in the way the world sees them. In our Bible verses for the day, we are actually being shown that there is a way to keep our heads held high above these troubled waters, while keeping joy intact…and that comes when we can see how each painful moment we endure, can produce something greater within us…something that was never there before. Yes…we may not see pain…loss or deep heartache, as something to be happy about; but rather than saying…"This is a bad day"…"My life seems to be going in a wrong direction"…or "Why is this happening to me?"…why not say… "This is a bad day; but praise God for a new tomorrow!"…and "My life seems to be going in a wrong direction; but maybe these painful moments are being used by God to steer me back to where I should really be." When we choose to speak a negative thought, without something positive following that thought; then this is when Satan takes hold of the negativity and uses is against us, as a means of convincing us that nothing will get better, which is also his way of stealing our joy.
When we can encourage ourselves with a positive thought, of where these times may be leading us; then that is when we will begin to see a reason to rejoice; because all of a sudden life won't seem so bleak…and we'll be able to see that these difficult moments we're facing aren't permanent, which will be something worth rejoicing over, even while it hurts.
As we close, I just want to thank God for this great time together with Him! A lot of thoughts that I have shared with you today, weren't actually planned; but over time, I have come to see how the unplanned moments with God, can truly help us to see how very real He is. Who could encourage us and shift us in the right direction, in such a loving, gentle and caring way…and who could even begin to give us the wisdom we need, to help and sustain us through these very hard and difficult times? Praise God that He is there for all of us, when we need Him the most!
Well…I don't know about you; but I have truly been blessed with His loving wisdom today…and I hope and pray that you will return again tomorrow and join me, for another great God inspired visit! Have a very blessed day…and may you find God to be very real in your life each day!
It's Always & Only Because of Him…
