Bible Verse for the Day | John 8:47
"He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God."
Hello everyone…and a very happy and blessed Thursday to you all! It is so good to be back with you today for another visit…and my prayer right now; is that we would always be open to the One who lives within us…the One and only One who can make all things possible in our lives…Amen!
As we begin our time together today, let me ask you a question… "Are you open to God's response to your prayer needs?" As I've been mulling over our verse for the day…it is truly one that we need to take to heart; because if we aren't willing to accept what God says, then we need to ask ourselves another question which is this… "Do we truly belong to Him?" Let's stop here for a moment and think back to the time, when we had accepted Jesus to come into our hearts. Was it so we could be counted as a Christian…or was it because we truly believe in Him and long for Him to be Lord of our lives? If it was because we truly believe in Him and long for Him to be Lord of our lives; then how is it that we can't trust Him enough, to accept His response to our prayer needs?
I will never forget the time when I would pray continually for God to heal my knees. Little did I know at the time; that my constant prayer was my way of getting what I desired, rather than being open to His desires; because you see, when we are truly open to His will for our lives; then we will only feel the need to pray once, while being willing to accept whatever He chooses to do.
Anyways, as I continued to pray and push my desire into God's will for my life…my knees only worsened with time, as I found myself coming out of the doctor's office, in the same way I went in. After going through this month after month, I began to open myself up to God's will, rather than my own desires. In fact, I went to my husband and said… "Keith, I think it's time to stop praying for a healing…and for me to stop forcing my desire into God's plan for my life.
It wasn't that long after my talk with Keith; that the doors began to open, as God began to speak deep into my spirit, until the words that were placed upon my heart, were now being written on whatever I could find to write on at the time. You see, I came to understand that if God would have healed me; then I could have never reached the depth that He longed for me to reach, in order that He may encourage you through me.
I don't know why; but we seem to think that we know what's best for ourselves, so we pass that along to God…and look with expectation, for Him to answer our prayer…our way. Little do we realize at the time; that we are leaving Him out of everything, which only allows us to go through moments of needless suffering…just as I once did. I'm not saying that we shouldn't have faith…or that we should give up; but what I have come to see, is found in Proverbs 16:1, which reads… "The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord." In other words, we can make plans…or share our thoughts with God; but the final outcome should be in His hands.
You know…I remember a time, when someone had sent me a message through the ministry's prayer page…and as I read it, I would say that there were about a dozen prayer requests. In each one of them…there was not only the prayer request; but this person was also wanting me to pray that God would answer them, in the way that they were wanting to see them answered, which I just don't do; because I have learned over time; that we should hand over our needs to God and trust Him to answer them, in the way that He feels is best for us. We must remember that we can't see as far down the road as He can, so we need Him to determine what will work out best for us. Yes, it may not be what we would like at the time; but one thing I know…is that when He makes the final decision; then everything does end up coming together, in a way that is much better than what we first desired it to be.
One thing we must remember as we close; is that we can't ask for God's help…and then turn around and make it all about ourselves. We must remember who is Lord of our lives…and I don't know about you; but I have truly come to see that it's Him…not me.
As you look at your own life right now, can you say that everything in your life is about God…or have you unknowingly become caught up in yourself? Believe me when I say…I know how easily that can happen. That is why we need to slow down and take the time to truly connect with the One, who we had at one time made to be Lord of our lives. When we can do this; then that is when I believe that we will begin to take the trust off of ourselves, so we can place our trust in the One who knows just what we need…at the time we need it the most.
Well…it's time for me to continue on with my day; but I sure enjoyed the visit…and I hope that you will come back again tomorrow and join me, for another great God inspired visit! Until we meet again…take care…and may God's richest blessings be yours!
It's Always & Only Because of Him…
