Bible Verses for the Day | Psalm 44:5-7
"Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us. 6) For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me. 7) But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us."
Hello everyone…and how is the start to your weekend? As our visits for this week come to a close, until another week begins on Monday morning, I thought that I would leave you with some words to think on throughout the weekend, which are these… "First of all, God wants you to know that He loves you so much…and that He will always be there to protect and care for you, no matter what may come your way. Then the second thing that He has laid upon my heart to share with you today; is that even though you may not always feel strong enough to fight the enemy, during these difficult times…He can, so don't give up."
I don't know about you; but there was a time in my life, when I would attempt to remain strong on my own, when times got tough…thinking that I could be strong enough to overcome whatever was taking place in my life at the time; but as these moments only continued to worsen, I did come to eventually see that my idea of remaining tough and strong on my own…only became a weapon that held no power or strength. In fact, these actually became the moments when my eyes were opened to the truth that I just wasn't strong enough to withstand the power of the enemy on my own…and that I would need a greater strength that could help bring down the enemy…that was attempting to bring me down.
Last night, as I sat here…thinking on all that God had laid upon my heart, I also began to think back to the story of David and Goliath. If you remember…David was just a young shepherd boy; but one who knew that he could bring the giant Goliath to the ground. As he shared this with Saul and his army…they only laughed at David; but what Saul didn't realize at the time, was that David wasn't going to fight Goliath alone; but rather, David was going to go in the power and strength of His God.
Later, as little David stood before this great giant…one who was much bigger and stronger than him; David began to speak these words to Goliath… "Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied." ( I Samuel 17:45). Now there would have never been any other plan or strategy that could have helped David to fight Goliath on his own…especially with just a simple slingshot and a handful of stones; but when David had allowed the power of God to enter those stones; that was all it took, to bring the giant Goliath to the ground.
Just recently, I was thinking that we have this strong and powerful God who says that He longs to love, protect and care for us; but yet at times, we choose to stand strong on our own, when we are already weak, due to whatever we may be facing at the time. We must realize that it's only through God's added strength that we become stronger than the enemy; for it's only through someone greater than ourselves; that we become strong enough to push through the barriers of the enemy, to find our way to freedom once more.
As you're facing what may seem to be an overpowering circumstance right now, may I encourage you to not stand strong and go through it on your own; but rather, enter these moments with a God who longs to be the strength you need…a God whose strength can love, protect and care for you, until these difficult times have come to an end.
Wow…what a great week we've had together! I definitely have felt the power of God in each word that I have shared with you this week. My prayer for you; is that you won't try to muddle through something that is bigger than yourself; but that you will turn to the One who can be that added ingredient of strength you need, to get you through these times in your life!
Well…there's more to be done before my weekend begins, so I will say good-bye for now; but I hope that you will first, enjoy your weekend…and then come back on Monday, for another great God inspired visit! Take care…and may God truly bless your heart with His loving spirit! See ya on Monday!
It's Always & Only Because of Him…
