Friday...Jan. 10, 2020 | Peace in the Midst of the Storm

1/10/2020

Good evening everyone…and how are you doing tonight? I sure hope that your Friday has been a good one…completely blessed by God!
Well…I am now sitting in my office…surrounded by a beautiful winter wonderland of snow. The trees are iced in white, while shadows from the yard light, lay across a blanket of fresh fallen snow.
As I was getting around for my evening…I was thinking on this snowstorm; that could give us up to 7” of snow by tonight, with possibly 1-3 more inches of snow by Sunday. While thinking on this, I began to also see how having our sight and thoughts on the storms that we face in life, can lead us down a path of further thoughts that become imaginary thoughts…thoughts that can distort reality and take us to further moments of worry, doubt and fear. In other words…we seem to find ourselves bypassing what is here for the moment…to skip into moments that haven’t even happened or never may happen…while never realizing that these thoughts only open up another path; that allows evil to have control.
To me, Philippians 4:8-9 becomes a wakeup call for us…and we read… “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9) Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.”
If I sat here tonight…and thought of everything that could go wrong, due to this storm; then I would truly miss out on the peace that God longs for me to have this evening. We need to realize that the only way we are going to experience peace, in the midst of a storm; is when our minds are on the true, honest, just, pure and lovely things.
As I look out my window…the snow is still heavily falling, while the yard seems to be overtaken by snow…but even though the storm surrounds me, my God has given me a safe haven…a place, where I can be warm and safe, until the storm passes by…and when we choose to think in this way…no matter what kind of a storm we may face; then God’s perfect peace will be with us.
In times past, I have heard people pray for peace and that is good…but why not send a message to God of what you truly long for, by focusing on Him and His goodness, while facing the storm. I truly believe that once we turn away from the storm, to focus on the master of the storm; that is when the imaginary thoughts will remain distant from us, while allowing us to live with a reality that speaks peace…Amen!!
Well…time to enjoy a hot meal and some relaxation. I truly hope and pray that God will cover you tonight, with His comforting peace. Take care and I will hope to be with you tomorrow!
Goodnight & God bless!
It’s Always & Only Because of Him…
Diane
