"And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. 8) For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 9) And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10) Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong." 2 Corinthian 12:7-10 (My life verses)
The thorn of affliction can be painful and difficult to remove on our own...and there may be times, when we wish God would just remove this thorn from us. We know that He has the power to do so; but why Lord, do you allow these painful moments in our lives? Then we come to see that even though the thorn remains, for reasons we don't understand...His grace is sufficient to see us through...for it's through these moments that we see how His strength can be made perfect through our weakness...and even though this thorn may hurt us...we know that He is still God and that He has control over the thorn; so we rejoice...knowing that our God won't allow this thorn to destroy us.
