Hello everyone…and a very happy and blessed Monday to you all! What a great day the Lord hath made…and as we begin this brand new week together, I pray that the power of almighty God will rise up within us; that we may not fall prey to worry, doubt or fear…Amen!!
Throughout the winter months, I have been feeding a variety of birds and two of my favorites are the Northern Flicker, which is in the woodpecker family…and also some beautiful doves. In fact, when I spend time with God and write; that time becomes even more special, when a dove or two comes into the yard.
Anyways…lately I have been observing the doves that come to visit Keith and I…and one thing I have noticed; is how timid they can be, especially when the squirrels are in the yard; but you know what…over time, they have gotten to be brave and stand their ground. They could have succumbed to their fear and never came back; but instead, they chose to wait patiently and not give up on the food and water they needed.
I just wonder today…if we ever stop to think on what can happen, when we choose to fall prey to fear. One thing I have come to experience within my own life; is that falling prey to fear only stops life and imprisons us within these moments that Satan is attempting to use against us.
As I look back on my life, I remember a time when I truly felt like Moses in the Bible. I never felt good enough for anything, especially when it came to serving God….and those moments only created a fear within me; that attempted to debilitate my life. During this time, God led me to a couple Bible verses in Psalm 112:7-8, which reads… “They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the LORD. 8) Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.”
You know…I think that we tend to take hold of fear; because maybe we haven’t taken hold of God…in a way that could help us to live with a settled feeling that everything would be alright. Think about it for a moment…if we truly know what God stands for…and if we truly come to know the power that is contained within Him…and believe in that power completely; then would there be any reason to experience worry, doubt or fear?
You know…I think that there can be times, when we miss out on the ending to the story, of what we’re experiencing at the time; because we choose to go only so far in life, due to fear and the unknown moments we’re facing. As soon as fear kicks in; it seems as if we become more consumed with what else could go wrong; that we begin to take hold of fear completely, rather than a powerful God who is greater than these moments that stand before us.
If we are ever going to see and experience a God who can help us to triumph over our foes; then first, we must let go of fear and hold tightly to a God that has promised to never leave us or forsake us. Once we choose to do so; that is when our hearts will be secure in God…and fear will begin to fade away into the background of our lives, as we truly come to witness a God that never fails.
As we begin our walk together through another week, may I encourage you to take a tight grip onto God’s hand and never let go. Get to know God and the power that is contained within Him…and once you do these things…there is one thing I know…you will have peace and a settled feeling within you…knowing that everything will be just fine…Amen!
Have a very blessed day…and I will see ya soon! God bless!
It’s Always & Only Because of Him…
Hello everyone…and a very happy and blessed Friday to you all! Praise God…just for who He truly is…a God who can give us strength beyond our own…and a God whose strength can take us beyond despair…Amen!
As we begin our time together today, I would like to share some thoughts from God’s heart to yours…thoughts that can lift you to your feet, with a hope that can truly help you to keep pressing on…despite what you may be facing at this time.
You know…one thing I’ve truly learned over the past 30 years; is how a circumstance can become a road block in our lives…one that can stop life…and even our relationship with Christ. In fact…these circumstances we face at times can even dictate our lives and tell us what we can and cannot do…and before we realize it; we have allowed them to manipulate our lives, until they have become a roadblock that keeps us from living.
For those of you who may not know…I have lived with two bad knees…over the past 50 years of my life. It was at a very young age, when I first discovered that my knee joints weren’t formed properly at birth, which only led me to many dislocations…surgeries and much pain. Now…if I would have allowed all of that to control my life; then I would have missed out on over 50 years of living. Yes…it hasn’t been easy; but I have truly learned a lot along this steep mountainous climb…and the one thing I have truly taken hold of; is to go beyond the problems I’ve experience with these legs…to do what I am able to do.
Yesterday…after finishing the ministry work and a little cooking, I decided to pull out a few cabinets in my dining room and give the room a different look for spring and summer. I have to admit that I wasn’t feeling my best…and the one leg was hurting; but I decided to get up off the couch and do what I could do…and now as I sit here this morning, I have a clean dining room, with a brand new beautiful look…and that would have never happened, if I would have allowed this situation to control my life.
You know…as we live each day, we must truly remember the words in I Corinthians 4:8, which reads… “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9) persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” I think that if we could see our lives according to this Bible verse; then our minds wouldn’t be focused on what we can’t do; but rather, our minds would take us further beyond the circumstance…to see that we can still accomplish something, even if it’s not in the same way as others do it.
There was a time before the ministry began, when I truly enjoyed planting flowers in the backyard…that is, until the trees got bigger and there was more shade. Anyways…one day, I was out there weeding around the flowers that I had planted…and in order for me to do that, I bend over from my waist because I can’t squat, due to the condition of my legs.
As I was enjoying my time out back, my neighbor came running out, to see if I was alright…and I said, “Yes…why?” …and she said, “I saw you bent over and thought something was wrong.” I said… “Oh no…this is how I have to weed my flowers, due to the condition of my legs.” Even though times like these haven’t always been easy on me…my situation hasn’t crushed me or placed me in total despair, so why should I not do what I can and enjoy life?
One thing I have truly come to see; is that when we make life it’s best; that is when God will meet us there and help us the rest of the way…and you know what…I have also come to see that this is when the road blocks…set up by Satan through these circumstances, can be pushed out of the way…to clear a path that can lead us to new possibilities; that we probably would have never expected to experience along the way.
You know…I’m sure that we have all memorized Philippians 4:13, which says that “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”; but do we realize what these words can actually do for us, when applied to our everyday lives? Just think…even though a circumstance may attempt to put up a road block and convince us that this is where life ends…we can go beyond it and still experience some form of life…and why…because it’s Christ’s strength that pushes out the road blocks, so we can go beyond the moments that are attempting to bring us to a sudden halt.
Maybe today, you are about to give up on life because you feel as though everything has gone wrong. Believe when I say…I know where you’re coming from; but you know what…I think you’ve wanted to give up because you just don’t have the strength within yourself to go through one more thing. May I encourage you today…to look beyond the circumstance, instead of being caught up in it. In this way…Satan can’t use the circumstance to manipulate your life; and once you’re reached this point…ask God to step in and be the strength that you can’t be for yourself…and one thing I know; that as you trust God…that is when the road blocks will move…and you will truly begin to see that even though you feel hard pressed on every side; that you are not crushed…and even though you feel struck down, you have not been destroyed, which from there will help you to go beyond what you can’t do…to do the things that God can truly give you the strength to do…Amen!!
Have a very blessed day…and never give up; because God is there to help you…I know!
It’s Always & Only Because of Him…
Hello everyone…and a very happy and blessed Thursday to you all! Praise God for another new day…a day where we can begin anew and begin once more with Him! Now, as we prepare to spend this time together with God, I pray that we will truly come to see ourselves in the way He sees us; that we might discover a new hope that can carry us through the hard and difficult times of life…Amen!!
Last night before going to sleep, I was having a talk with God and thanking Him for all He had brought me through yesterday…and as I continued to spend time with Him; He began to speak to my heart on a writing that could truly bring hope and lift us to our feet, during these difficult times we’re facing…so let’s start out with this question… “Have you ever stopped to think on how you are really viewing your life?” In other words…do we see ourselves in the way that God sees us or are we viewing our lives in the way the world views their lives?
One thing I’ve come to see is that Satan isn’t only out to afflict us…or even attempt to take us down a wrong road; but his aim is to also convince us that we’re no good because of these mistakes and circumstances we experience. Listen…when we allow our mistakes or afflictions to punish us, rather than seeing them as God does…something to learn and grow from; then the problems we’re facing only seem to intensify with time, which keeps us in bondage and continually works to keep us low and even more distant from God.
A Bible verse that has truly helped me to understand this more is found in I Samuel 16:7 and we read… “But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him (or He wasn’t seeing David in that way): for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.”
One of best things I’ve taken hold of in my life; is that God doesn’t focus on the mistake or even see us as we do. We tend to look and judge ourselves by our faults and failures…and even by how much we may be facing at the time; but I have truly come to see that God doesn’t waste His time on the fault or the problem itself; but rather, He walks way beyond it; to see what can come out of that fault…and especially the circumstances we face.
I remember a time in my life, when everything just seemed so overwhelming and out of control. There were so many bad things happening at the time; that I began to see them in a way that made me feel like a piece of nothing; but that was only because I was truly viewing them in the way that Satan wanted me to see them. Once I began to shift my thoughts and focus on how God could be my teacher…and on how I could be His pupil; that is when lessons were learned, while the thoughts of failure began to drift off into the background of my life.
When we can truly reject the thoughts of failure and see our lives in the way that God sees them; then I believe that we will begin to see these trying times in our lives, as times that can be renewed and filled with new possibilities and new growth. You see…even though Satan longs to convince us of defeat; there is a God with so much love and power…One who longs to use these moments to lift us closer to Him, while making us even stronger than before…and a Bible verse that has been a great reminder to me of this is found in Jeremiah 29:11, which says… “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
When we can read words of truth, as we have discovered in God’s word today; that is when we will find it easier to see our lives in the way that God sees them…and instead of feeling weighed down and buried in the muck and mire of what we see with our own eyes; we will once more be able to see our lives in the right way…a clearer way, which will become a piece of hope to hold to…a hope that can carry us through these hard and difficult times of life.
As we close our time together…let this be our prayer… “Help me Lord to see myself as You do”…Amen!!
Have a very blessed day and I will see ya soon!
It’s Always & Only Because of Him…
Hello everyone…and a very happy and blessed Wednesday to you all! What a beautiful day outside my office window! Praise God that He is truly with us at all times…and praise Him…that He has the power to do all things…to make the rain fall, while bringing light into darkness! As we begin our time together, I pray that we will once more be reminded; that our God is greater and more powerful, than anything we may experience in this life…Amen!!
This morning, as I’ve been sitting here…listening to some music, while looking out my window to another beautiful day; God began to remind me of a power that can truly go way beyond any so-called power of a circumstance. Isn’t it amazing, as to how a circumstance can seem so overpowering…to the place, where we seem to think that nothing could ever be greater than what we are facing at the time?
As I look back on my life, I remember so much, as to how the difficult moments of the past made me feel bound up in chains, while trapped within a prison of despair. Oh how I felt that nothing would ever change…and why…because I was focusing on where the circumstances had taken me at the time.
No matter what we face…and no matter where these moments attempt to take us; we must take our focus away from this so-called power that stems from a problem and focus on who God truly is…the most powerful being ever.
As I was looking through some Bible verses this morning, I came across several verses that I would like to share with you today…and a few of them are found in Acts 16:25-26 and we read… “About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26) Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose.”
Now let’s just stop for a moment and take these two verses apart. Here we see two men…Paul and Silas, who were bound up in chains or what they called shackles in those days. Now I would say that Paul and Silas could have sat there in that prison and felt sorry for themselves. They could have even begun to focus on thoughts that would have made these moments even more discouraging; but that is not what they did. Instead, they began to praise God…and why…because they knew without a doubt that the God they served was greater than these moments they were experiencing…and that He would free them, which God did eventually do.
Now let’s compare this to our own lives. We can feel as if a circumstance has bound us up and thrown us into a dark prison of despair. These moments can attempt to make us believe that there is no way of escape. Now comes a time of testing…do we truly believe that God’s power is greater than that circumstance…or have we come to believe in the so-called power of that circumstance. One thing I know…when we can see our God as someone greater than these moments we’re facing; then I would say that a heart of praise would automatically go up into the heavens…and why…because we have no reason to think on any other thing, when we know without a doubt that our God is greater than what we are facing at the time.
As we close, I would like to finish with one other Bible verse, which is found in Psalm 107:14, which reads… “He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains.”
One thing I have truly come to see is this…how we react to a problem will definitely become a message to God, as to whether we see His power as something greater than what we’re facing at the time. We need to remember that even though the chains that attempt to bind us up within a circumstance, can make our lives seem hopeless…as though we will never be free of them; there is a God who can enter these moments and break the chains that were meant to keep us in bondage.
One thing I would like to close with is this…when we are caught up in the moments of a circumstance; we can also become easily addicted to these moments, until Satan uses moments such as these to manipulate us like a puppet on a string. If we are ever going to be set free from the chains that have bound us up within a circumstance; then we need to realize that Jesus is the only One whose power is greater than that circumstance we’re facing. Once we can truly believe this with all our hearts, rather than just speaking it; that is when Jesus will hear our cry for help and reach down from the heavens…to break the chains that once attempted to enslave us to evil…Amen!!
Have a very blessed day…and always know that there is power greater than your circumstance! God bless!
