Good evening everyone! I truly hope that your Sunday was a very blessed one! I had a great afternoon…and as I was resting…I happen to look out my window…and here stood 5 beautiful doves. I can’t help but think that God had sent me something very special, to enjoy in my afternoon. Later…I went outside with my seed bucket and put out a little more seed…and here they came, with two Northern Flickers, which are in the woodpecker family. What a beautiful sight I enjoyed outside my window, as I rested this afternoon!
This morning, as Keith and I spent some time with God; we read an older Christmas writing, on one of my pages, titled…“Sunday Inspiration.” The writing titled… “Christmas within the Heart” talked on how we should make our hearts a nativity, for Jesus to be born within us. I just wonder…how many of us are willing to walk beyond the materialistic part of Christmas; so there is room in the heart for Jesus…to not only be born within us; but to also live within us and work within us; that we may always be as one with Him.
One of my favorite Bible verses that goes along with this writing; is found in Psalm 73:25…and we read…“Whom have I in heaven but thee? And there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.” When it comes to Christmas…what is truly our desire? Is it to have this or that…or is it to have Jesus, in every aspect of our lives? One thing I know about material things…they grow old with time or we lose interest in them…but I know One who always remains the same…no matter what I face in life…and that is Jesus Christ.
This Christmas, Keith and I decided to stop having a tree and decorations…as we had already given up the gift giving a long time ago. In the past, we had used the lights, as a part of our celebration; but this year, we decided to let go of everything…and make this Christmas a complete celebration of Christ.
The other day, as Keith and I were visiting; I mentioned to him that this Christmas had seemed different…but in a better way. For some reason, I didn’t miss the tree or lights…and I even found myself more caught up in the true meaning of Christmas, which is the birthday of Jesus Christ. I also came to see this year; that all along, this was the true desire of my heart. By laying aside all the traditional ways of Christmas…I have truly found that I have prepared a nativity within the heart…one that allows Christ to be born, even more within me…and this is one Christmas that I will never forget.
As I look back on my life, it seemed that I had to always have everything; but now, I have truly learned how to live on little…that I may gain Christ in my life, in an even greater way…and this is what is more important to me, than any other thing…praise Him!
As we prepare to celebrate Christmas in a couple of days…I pray that we won’t only seek Christ, during times of desperate need…but I pray that we will always long to seek Him…and make Him above all else in our lives…Amen!!
Well…I’m going to enjoy the remainder of my weekend…before a busy week begins. I praise God for giving me this weekend of rest…and I just can’t help but know that He will once more be there for me…and you, as we begin another new week!
Have a great night and I’ll talk to you soon!
Goodnight & God bless!
It’s Always & Only Because of Him…
